- In Business Manager, click on All Tools and then select the Business Settings gear icon.
- Inside Business Settings, go to the Security Center and find the Verification section. Click on Start Verification. (Note: The “Start Verification” button won’t be clickable unless you’ve taken action that requires verification.)
- Fill in your business details and hit Confirm.
- Choose how you’d like to verify your business: request a code via phone, SMS, or email, or if you prefer, use domain verification (in which case, you won’t need a code).
- Once submitted, the verification process typically takes between 5-10 days. You can always check the status of your verification by visiting the Security Center.
WhatsApp Business Account Activation Requirements
Before you can activate your WhatsApp Business Account (WABA), make sure you have the following details ready when reaching out to your telecom or WhatsApp gateway provider:
- Phone Number: The number must not have been used on WhatsApp before. You’ll receive an OTP (One-Time Password) for account activation.
- Verified Facebook Business Page URL: Your Facebook Business page needs to be verified.
- Business Manager ID: You’ll need the Business Manager ID from your verified Facebook account. You can link multiple phone numbers to a single Business Manager ID, but they must all come from the same WhatsApp service provider. Note that once an ID is linked to a provider, it can’t be used with another provider at the same time, though it can be migrated.
- Company Logo: A high-quality logo (preferably 400×400 pixels) for your WABA display picture.
- Profile Name: The name you want to display on your business account.
- Company Address: Your business’s physical address.
- Business Category: The category of your business, which will be added to your WABA account.
- Business Description: A short description of your business (up to 256 characters).
- Company Email Address: A valid email address associated with your business.
- Website URL: The website link for your business.
- About Your Organization: A brief description of your organization (up to 139 characters) that will appear on your WABA account.
Activating Your WhatsApp Business Account
To activate your WhatsApp Business account, follow these steps:
- Provide Your Details: Start by giving your telecom gateway provider or preferred WhatsApp partner all the required details, including your verified Facebook Business page URL, phone number, and business information.
- Gateway Provider Approval: Once you’ve confirmed that your gateway provider is authorized to send messages on your behalf, they will send a request to your Facebook page.
- Approve the Request: Go to the ‘Requests’ tab in your Business Settings on Facebook and accept the request. This step grants your gateway provider the permission to send messages on behalf of your business.
- Create Your WhatsApp Business Account: With your business page on Facebook, you can now create your WhatsApp Business account. Facebook will review your account details before giving approval.
- OTP Verification: After your account is reviewed and approved, Facebook will send an OTP (One-Time Password) to the WhatsApp phone number you provided. You will need to share this OTP with your gateway provider to complete the activation process.
- Wait for Activation: The entire process can take up to two weeks. During this time, you may need to follow up if there are any issues or questions regarding your application.
Submitting and Approving WhatsApp Templates
Once you’ve completed the compliance requirements, you’re ready to leverage WhatsApp’s business APIs to reach out to your sales leads and customers. To ensure that your messages follow WhatsApp’s guidelines, every bulk message you send needs to be pre-approved as a WhatsApp template.
